Several media platforms have reported on a recently released,
controversial, Kentucky Fried Chicken commercial based in South Africa. At
first, the commercial which has been deemed racist by many, features a little black girl feeling out of place on her first day of school, in a new country..but
then takes a stereotypical direction...
What do you think? Is the KFC commercial racist or are people overreacting?
I think whoever was responsible for the direction of this
KFC commercial knew exactly what they were doing. They had to have known that
having a black girl eating chicken would have people talking – after all, who
isn’t familiar with the “black people eat chicken” stereotype?
The KFC commercial may or may not be racist to some – but
it’s definitely stereotypical.
